  1. Changing perfusion pumps with different concentrations and dosing

    Hi, I think there could be another formula set added that is useful for transportation issues. We often take over patients with running iv drugs for hemodynamic support that are relevant to be taken over in a correct manner to provide improved patient safety. If you are interested, I have made an Excel sheet to calculate doses so that you can work with your own well known standards. There is no need to change routines any more.   4. DLCO correction for hemoglobin

    Abnormal hemoglobin (Hb) levels can affect the diffusing capacity and, if known, should be used to mathematically correct the measured diffusing capacity to normal Hb.

    Adjusted DLCO (adolescent males and men): Hb adjusted DLCO (DLCOc) = measured DLCO ([10.22 + Hb g/dL]/[1.7 Hb])

    Hb adjusted DLCO (children < 15 y and women): Hb adjusted DLCO (DLCOc) = measured DLCO ([9.38 + Hb g/dL]/[1.7 Hb])

    The measured DLCO also can be adjusted for elevated levels of carboxyhemoglobin, as follows: Carboxyhemoglobin-adjusted DLCO (DLCOc) = measured DLCO (1 + [%CO Hb/100])

    The DECAF score: predicting hospital mortality in exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

    These researchers analysed admission data and in-hospital deaths among 920 consecutive patients hospitalised for a COPD exacerbation to identify outcome predictors; mean FEV1 was 43.6% of predicted and 10.4% of patients died in hospital.
